RE: First 2 weeks Part 2
Whiterabbit, sorry I missed this post and missed your note about your mother passing. My sincere condolences.
Keep yourself going there and I think you'll do OK.
Keep up the posts. I enjoy reading about your adventures in expediting.
Best wishes.

Ont...was good to see JR. get his win,Scwimmer had that ol dodge runnin strong, maybe Ward just was satisfied with 15 th position for to long but ya gotta love the guy, never seen him lose his cool..thats why i respect him...saw him get ran into the wall once and as his style ( Ward Burton) he just replied "well thats racin" never saw him get rattled . Will miss him in ol 22. Yeah im just deadheadin back home from CA. dont need the B.S. from those customs, U.S. types. Even tho im a us citizen im tired of thier friggen arrogance and holier than thou attitude was just talkin to a fellow driver who was havin trouble with his "english" and we both got hauled in for jst talkin about tranferin a load "while in line" buncha young punks who got some sort of chip on thier shoulders, its sure as heck isnt stress causin thier problem! theyve forgotten what the term civil servant means . Dont need the hassle at my age.oh yeah an dont never touch the counter !!!, LOL... mustve caught a case of cooties back in kindergarden heck they act like ,oh never mind...had a three hundred run to oshawa area monday and a really short one today but good pay for sure ! didnt lose rotation number either, see good people whom ive contracted with ...HEY do your runs come mainly after 2pm also ? i like the night bird stuff but wouldnt mind seein more country ! ;) hmmmm nightvison windows anyone? T.W. thank you so much for yur support Sir!...back when i was a kid ( to young to appreciate the fairer sex) i told "Ma" id git me a truck and a dog and wed cross country, never got the chance but the ol gal is here in spirit For sure...an seein she was a WW2 U.S.O. dancer, entertainer, im sure thier is a dance floor in heaven an shes happy and finally at piece....... ont threezeroonesixone , ;)........ ,rotflmao.....yeah im just happier than a clam wont get rich by a longshot but the ol wheels are finally turnin again! Cant wait to get a run to the south ( if i ever win a bid that is ) think ill run a week or so there if possible... Competition is fierce nowadays what with the newbie companys, but theyll be gone tommorrow from what ive seen ,no numbers, permits etc. what a joke some are! Real proffesionals yaknow ? ok ,later bro , the Mrs .wants some attention (yeehawww ,;), )

RE: First 2 weeks Part 2
Wabbit.. Yeah after 2pm seems like a requirement, I suppose they make it during the day and we take it out in the evening for an A.M delivery time! BUT here in S. Ontario we run alot of locals Like Kitchener to Scarboro or Ajax to Hamilton We can rip off 2-3 hundred a day doin locals AND still go long during the night! Last post I said I had an A.M. P/U well that was a shorty for about 75 bucks and right after that had a Toronto to Tiverton up on Lake Huron north of Sarnia about 115 miles for another $150 and then about 4pm they gave us Ajax to Sieverville (Dolly Parton Blvd.!!)Tennessee outside of Knoxville Drove back to Detroit and got one coming home! Phew...
Dinner?? well if you insist! *lol* just have to find the time to get together...Gettin late, have a double no less for the mornin to P/U. Been another busy week!
BTW went to see the Canadian Sprinter to-day a 2004 seem the Can version is slightly differnet than it Amer. cousin... 50$ grand!!!

RE: First 2 weeks Part 2
Well Wabbit and TW... I don't know if you got that private message from a moderator about stopping our running diary here in the Newbies Forum or not. Wants us to use the private e-mail system. After much thought and reading the different requirements of forum headings, I think we could very well continue in The Loading Dock since theres no real prerequisite other than relaxing and shooting the s##t! If this meets with approval of DD of course. The e-mail system would be so awkward as anyone can jump into the discussion with thier 2 cents worth.
I know we ramble on somewhat, but in context theres something to be learned from them, daily frustrations of the job, border crossing experiences, van problems and van shopping and general business attitudes and how our personal lives intermingle with expediting. And of course the preverbal rumour mill. What would a customs waiting room or loading dock be without rumours?*LOL*
As requested I will end this topic here and respond "if approved" in The Loading Dock.
AN AFTER THOUGHT...since we have enough van guys to make it work.
Maybe a forum of our own?
Titled..*Vans and all About Vans*
Moderator: Teacel
Larry, Jeff, Tony, whata think guys?

RE: First 2 weeks Part 2
Yeah...i dont guess we got a bit "personal" and did "ramble"? but my sentiments are yours...I started ths thread and thouught that it would be helpfull i KNOW others found it that way to...Heck i just thought that by getting it all out even if there was some other "ramblings of this demented mind" that it would be at the LEAST entertaining and at the best insightfull...so ill stick to basics here my last two week ck was like this average of 2000 miles i got 1125 bux gross subtract insurance, gas, imca i got 450 bux now that was including few days off for "personal reasons" winding up loose ends ( which i wont get into )...only was four runs...this past week ive got 8 runs in so things are for sure looking up,thank s to god i did make thru the "blahs" season slowdown so next ck will be substancially (sp) higher ... so ill wind it up also by saying thank you for this forum and lettin me vent an ramble it was good therapy ...thanks go out to Ontario Van Man for his help ! and TW of course, and those that responded with personal mails ,you got me thru it told me to hang in there for it would get better and it has...oh and not last and not least for sure THANK YOU DIESEL DIVA ...yes life is strange with its twists and turns, and there is a purpose for everything under the sun , how wonderous and exciting the time we spend here is for we know not where this road called life shall lead and how boring it would be if life was " scripted " and lastly thank you Lord for everything seen and unseen ... , thx people your all GOLDEN ...to those who are thinkin on gettin into this biz go for It ,if, you can be away from family ...; "and the poets down here dont right nothin at all they just sit back and let it all be ,and no one watches as the ambulance pulls away and the girl shuts out her bedroom light down in Jungle Land " .cr; Bruce Springsteen "Jungleland"..........da wabbit has left da building ;) , 30161 T.E.F. USA...... hmmmmmmm

RE: First 2 weeks Part 2
Hey...I really enjoyed reading this thread! It was kinda neat to read about the daily life of WR with the experienced guidance of OVM. I commend OVM for helping this guy along and supporting him. I'll jump in on the next thread to let him and the rest of you know that I think this is EXACTLY the kind of thread that helps newbies get a good feel for what they will see if they decide to get into expediting. This website has been very useful to me and so far has been a very, very, friendly and helpful atmosphere, but I question the moderator who wanted to stop this thread. It is a good thread. Maybe it needs to be in a different forum? I don't know, but I did enjoy it and I did learn from it!
I'll go check my messages...who know's, I may have one too..LOL
Have fun and be safe!, Arky

RE: First 2 weeks Part 2
Well, as far as this particular thread, WR can't view it any longer anyway due to limitation with his webtv, so I suppose that's up to you. A new thread could be started in the loading dock forum and just go from there. I suppose that this one could be moved there to just for archive purposes and if so, the first thread should be moved also.
btw, OVM, you didn't realize you had a following, huh?...lol...I'm willing to bet that I'm not the only one lurking to see what all you two get going in here..lol..I would love to see some "d" unit newbie threads similiar to what WR and OVM have done here.
just my opinions :)
thx for letting me have them, Arky

Thank you DD and Tony... I guess you could move this thread for the archives, but I'll have to start a new one because of WR's limitations.

Hi White Rabbit. I work for Thompson too. 30104. I've only had 2 weeks that would qualify as good this year, and they were'nt any kind of a record. Have you heard about the new system for rotation and dispatch? Send me an e-mail and I'll tell you about it. neuman@core.com I only have internet when I'm home, so it may be a while before I respond.
