Lasik Eye Surgery
Just wondering if anyone here has had the lasik eye surgery. If so, did it correct your problem and was it worth the money??

RE: Lasik Eye Surgery
I actually had prk surgery about a year and a half ago and am really happy with it it is more expensive than lastic but much safer as there is no cutting done, the healing time is a bit longer [about two weeks] also this is the type of surgery that is done in the navy if a pilot needs something done.

My wife had laser surgery a number of years ago and now only uses reading glasses. She has been well pleased with the results.
I'm not considered a candidate for the process yet, but as soon as I am, I'll have it done too!

one word of caution, make sure that the Dr. doing the surgery knows that you are driving for a living, most people have one eye done for distance and one for reading, that is mono vision and will disqualify you from driving, both have to be done for distance, and as above you will need glasses for reading.

Also don't forget to take in consideration your past history with glasses.
I mean some people's eye change all the time and your prescription changes often and if you want to eliminate glasses, it may be you will be rid of the for only a few years.
doctors will tell you otherwise but they are selling you a service and can't control your body.

RE: Lasik Eye Surgery
Sorry it took so long to thank you for your replys but this is the 1st time I have had a chance to get on line in days!
The doctor that is going to do the Lasik knows I drive for a living. Apparently, my doctor called him and explained my situation before my consultation.
From what I was told, I will get my distance back but that I will still need glasses for reading. To me, that would be great! I hate wearing glasses all the time since, up until 2 years ago, I only needed them for reading. Driving steady nights for 3 1/2 years really took a toll on my poor eyes and checkbook!:( :(
Now I have learned to keep a dim or red light on at night while I drive.
By the way, the 5th is the "big day" for the lasik's.

RE: Lasik Eye Surgery
I considered it a few years ago but then the Dr mentioned it might affect your vision when driving at night.

RE: Lasik Eye Surgery
That is my only concern since I do all the night driving. They claim it is rare but, just my luck, I will be that small percentage.
I just keep thinking it will be great not to have to wear the glasses all the time. :) :)
