Not Happy like many of You
I have been with current company for close to 7 years and I am in a subtle way being forced out. I work for one of the big companies of which I do not wish to name so would anyone like to recomend a company to consider signing up with and why.
thanks in advance.

Re: Not Happy like many of You
Subtle as in acceptence rate is below acceptable level and company unwilling to change it the few points to the accepted level thus I am constantly at the bottom of the board waiting for scraps that all the others do not accept.

My crystal ball says its a Cat driver stuck in a dirty pan. Getting to a clean pan will have a little to do with what type of vehicle you are driving.

Re: Not Happy like many of You
I feel your pain.I have the same problem at times with this company. It does help to call and talk to driver relations and have some of the refusals removed. I have had better luck talking to 3rd shift. let them go over the last 30 days. just tell them some of these load offers where over 40 percent deadhead..
This needs to be changed as this is forced dispatch. with this rating of maintaining 67 percent acceptance you would have to accept 7 out of 10 loads. where is the driver council when we need them!!

Snarf up the scraps, take some mini's and build up your acceptance rate. If you are sitting on a low daily average board, move to Chicago or Detroit and start hauling freight.
If you are with Panther check to see if you got zinged for refusing reduced rate loads or high dead loads. Believe it or not, they do make mistakes.

Re: Not Happy like many of You
You have to keep meticulous records of your numbers because the dispatch people are going to make mistakes on a regular basis, charging refusals when they aren't legitimate refusals. That's the primary reason I left.
As to the driver council, they aren't responsible and can't do anything about it other than repeatedly mention it.OOIDA Life Member 677319

Re: Not Happy like many of You
That would be good advice or pick up the difference doing a few broker loads as those count on your acceptance. As with any carrier, just have to adapt and work their system.

Re: Not Happy like many of You
Sounds a whole lot like forced dispatch to me, Its not likely they are hurting for trucks. Just one more step in making us employees without the benifits of being one, taking away our freedom to accept or decline a load. Independant contractor or employee???? What are we becoming?? Who knows better what loads makes a profit, the carrier or the guy/gal in the truck. Maybe only 6 out of ten loads offered make sence to run. If thats the case I guess you have to bend to their will, or let them put you out of business or find another carrier.

Re: Not Happy like many of You
If you're below 67% Acceptance, it isn't because Dispatch has constantly hit you with wrong refusals, it's because you're turning down too many loads. The Acceptance Rate thing is not a mystery, it's easy to figure out, and you know what the rules are. The Rate is calculated using all of the days of the current month, plus all of the days of the previous calendar month. Knowing that, then you should be able to intelligently decide whether or not to accept a load.
Keep in mind that on the first day of the month, then you're dealing with all of the days in the current month, which is one, and all of the days of the previous month, so if last month you had 12 load offers and turned down 6 of them, and were showing an 80% acceptance just before the first, then you're screwed when the first of the month rolls around and the loads from 2 months ago drop off the back end. Now you're at 50% acceptance, and you're in a deep hole for at least the rest of the month. Take whatever scraps you can get in the meantime.
Forced dispatch? No, not really. You aren't punished for turning down a load, but you are punished for being a cherry picker and turning down more than 33% of the loads offered to you. Yes, it could be that all of the loads you are offered just happen to be crap after crap after crap, but that's not likely. What's more likely is that you are sitting back and waiting for the primo loads and are turning everything else down.

Re: Not Happy like many of You
Don't let the FDCC's intimadate you. Your lease cannot be terminated for a low acceptance rating. I remember in orintation in Green they kept repaeating over & over again, you are your own boss blah bah blah.
