MATS - Louisville Truck Show
The Trucking Solutions Health group along with Driver Health will be sponsoring a 1.5 mile health walk at MATS.
The walk will be held at the convention center and we will walk around the buildings. There will be goody bags on a first come basis. Bob Perry, The Trucker Trainer will also be there to start the walk with a "Belt Cutting" ceremony!
If you think there is any possibility of you attending the truck show please register at:

Click on the upper right hand link. Our logo +61 is to show that the median age of truck driver is only 61 years of age. We are hoping to bring awareness to this number and to also change that number.Bob & Linda

Re: MATS - Louisville Truck Show
What holes ? There is a huge surplus of drivers . Over 100,000 jobs were lost in the industry last year and CDL mills are doing a booming business .
I saw something interesting though . Members on another forum were trying to warn wannabes how bottom feeder carriers chew newbies up and spit them out . I looked up U.S. Xpress on Safestat . Despite frequent hiring their number of drivers has not changed in the past year and a half .
Something else that came to light was C.R. England's "training " procedure . A trainee posted he ran 20,000 miles in the month with his trainer . On another forum a trainer boasted he made $1400 a week running 5,000 miles a week on a dedicated run that got him home every week . Other England "trainees " confirmed what goes on . They are nothing more than team drivers getting trainee salary which is about $1,000 a week less than an experienced codriver would get . Yet let somebody that is experienced be out of work for more than a few months and they'll be told they have to take a refresher course .
Getting a little off track here but my point is there are tens of thousands of people ready to jump in available seats .

Re: MATS - Louisville Truck Show
The point of the walk is to bring awareness to the drivers who are still alive that we need to get out and walk. We need to start taking care of ourselves if we want to continue driving or enjoy retirement.
There are many people just waiting to take our seats why give it to them any earlier then we need to?
The walk is going to be fun! One of the guys walking decided at the age of 45 or so to start exercising and is now running marathons.
As there are more and more sponsors jumping on the band wagon there will be some really fun giveaways.Bob & Linda

When is MATS this year? We like to go but we won't unless we find ourselves close. We are planning on the Expo, that we will most likely take off for.

Re: MATS - Louisville Truck Show
It is a shame that the truck stops are so icky. Many are not all that safe either. A nice track around the stops would be sooo nice. Not concrete, something fairly soft, like a thick mulch track. Concrete is very hard on knees. Mine are shot as it is. I can walk in the woods all day long but a hour in a mall and I have to head for the medicine cabinet.

Re: MATS - Louisville Truck Show
I have found a few where I could walk, most tend to be surrounded by concrete. There is that nice field by Expediters Row at Bordentown. You can walk around it during daylight hours. It is fairly safe and the rats are only out at night. It is easy on knees.

Re: MATS - Louisville Truck Show
We most likely will skip MATS. I looked at the dates, I am already having to take off a few days earlier in the month. Gotta see a doctor about improving my eyesite a bit. Might do a litte "niptuck" on the eyelid. Getting old is a pain!!! LOL!!

Ok Linder - I signed up for the walk. I may be walking with my eyes closed, that early in the am, but I'll try to make it.
Save me a Bavarian creme, please!
