National Coming Out Night

Hope everyone had a wonderful National Coming Out Night! My son sent me pictures of our neighborhood block party. The fire department showed up with a ladder truck and offer free bucket sky rides. My son shot these pics from way up high.

Is that anything like National "Coming Out" Day? I think Disney has some festivities, as does the cities of San Francisco, West Hollywood, and Key West.

National Coming Out Night at one time was called National Night Out. Now it is called something else, which at this time escapes me. I have always called it National Coming Out Night because my neighbors think I'm crazy.

The purpose of this event, which is held on the first Tuesday of August, is to get people away from their plasma tv's and meet their neighbors out in the street for a block party. The idea is that this interaction will help reduce crime. But while the neighborhood is out mingling in the street, the bad guys slip in the back door and make off with your plasma tv. So in that regard the event is a success.

I have only been home for 1 National Coming Out Night party. The mayor and the city planning stooge came to pitch their ideas for an overpriced and unnecessary community center.

Last year I missed a police officer and his canine partner, Logan. And this year I missed the fire department's ladder truck.

If I am home next year maybe the city will show up with their sewer snake truck and Best Buy's Geek Squad will hand out coupons for $25 off the purchase of qualifying plasma tvs.

It is still National Coming Out Night here in Sioux Falls. I've got about 20 minutes to go steal a cattle.

Now see, today I learned something new. Maybe Orlando will start having something similar. I really could use a plasma TV in my living room. Thanks for the tip, Moot.

Ya know, I have a laptop with me to watch movies. It seems lately though, if I'm not sleeping, I'm runnin'. So I just wait till I get home.

Plasma TV's are soo... 2004i'ch ,
TVP is the hot stuff ,
those things are becoming very affordable .
if they ever let technology back into the USSA,...
in a year or 2 , you will have a small box on your dash ,
and drivers will start looking for a flat white building to park infront , and project the TV on the wall.
or you will have a pull down screen inside .
and every house will have a wall with no furniture.
do you really want to see Obama at 30 feet ?
think texting drivers are dangerous ?
