Re: Will you Step up?
Arkjarhead has the best idea, we all buy protection that stimulates the economy and when they break in our trucks we serve justice in our cab!!! That will also save tax dollars on trials and free up jail space, sound like a home run to me. One other thing doesent VA have a 2 hour limit at rest areas?? Not much help for a 10 hour mandatory break.

Re: Will you Step up?
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

Re: Will you Step up?
For those of you that haven't been following other posts from "keeshond0622", overnight he was outed, in a now removed post, for spamming the membership here with advertisements of his personal merchandise page, inserted into his 'praise' of several products.
Because of these findings, I think it's fair to say that his appeals here are now in question, if they weren't already, concerning the funds for Mrs. Rivenburg's trip to G.A.T.S.
If you'd like a picture into his 'appeals' elsewhere and his attitude involving the lack of funds coming in, you can check his twitter page HERE.

Re: Will you Step up?
His appeal in this thread was questionable from the beginning. The stumbling block he's encountered is called common sense. Imagine that...

That boy just seems to be making "friends" all over the net...i guess he figures that "T'ing" off people is the way to build a business.....strange....
There are people in need of help. Charity is one of the nobler human motivations. The act of reaching into one's own pockets to help a fellow man in need is praiseworthy and laudable. Reaching into someone else's pocket is despicable and worthy of condemnation.

Re: Will you Step up?
You likely can't even imagine
..... if I told you the extent of it, you probably wouldn't believe it
It is a situation that goes back years - 5 or more that I've seen, and I didn't spend all that much time digging into it - and spans multiple web forums and message boards ..... not all of them related to trucking .....
The pattern often appears to be very similar: this guys shows up, ends up pitching a website he's involved with, resorts to dishonest and unethical tactics that would make even the most polished huckster blush, and ends up pizzing off the local inhabitants .... and then eventually leaves, or is driven away .... but not before he's managed to leave a good bit of chaos in his wake ......
Indeed....i guess he figures that "T'ing" off people is the way to build a business.....strange....
But I'm less concerned about that though, than I am about the fact this guy is connected with what is probably a highly vulnerable young mother, who, no doubt, is in extreme grief at the loss of her husband, the father of her children - that this individual would impart so much ugliness (by his conduct alone) into anything that is even remotely connected to that situation is beyond the pale .... and really says alot about what kind of individual he is.
I have begun to question many things about this guy ..... I'm sure there's quite a story there .........

Re: Will you Step up?
That is part of my concern too, but mine goes into the possible legal issues that prevent legitimate charities from receiving funds from people who are turned off by this style of a charade.

Re: Will you Step up?
It is not that can't, but it is if you want to.
It is what is called charity overload, when too many charities ask and then you throw in the quick buck artist on top of that.
The point is that people get tired of being asked, a common problem for a lot of charities to face, and when someone like TJ comes along and acts as it is a duty or else, it turns off people from giving at all. In his case it is not legitimate, a vacation is not charity for a family.
The same happens when you are driving down a road in a city, you have a the guy standing on the corner of a street who steps up to ask for money for his church, but if you already gave to the guy at the other light, you may start to feel as a target so the solution is that you don't give at all when asked.
I may not explain it well but for many charities and non-profits it is a problem.
Let me ask you this one, would you give $10 or even $100 to a legal non-profit research that is trying to find a way to get lower fuel consumption and lower emissions for every class 7/8 truck out on the road today? Isn't it a worthy cause? By forming a non-profit, this takes the "I will get rich off of this idea" attitude out of the equation altogether and allow an open collaboration with universities and other research places of the companies because of the lack of the threat of competition. Would you?Greg

Re: Will you Step up?
That is true but most of the work done in research non-profits don't end up making people rich, unlike the united way or some of the funding organizations where high salaries are justified by the corporate style work being done.
Beside all of that, these research non-profits are audited a lot to prevent this very thing from happening.
My point is this, TJ makes a claim that some of these people he calls truckers are a**es for not donating to what he considers a worthy cause. But I think he is wrong, I think that if there is a direct benefit to everyone, giving happens more often than not and especially if it is legitimate or made legitimate through the proper steps. In the case of my example, I used the idea that there is a group who has formed a non-profit for the benefit to all that has an idea to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.Greg
