Panther II Drivers
I was viewing the "drivers Wanted" section of the classifieds... and found it very interesting that many of the ads are for Panther, there are not many other owners and/or co.'s that are seeking drivers. I have my suspicions about why that is. anyways, I just thought I'd mention that. another thing I noticed, is that when you search for "driver wanted" it also brings up "co-drivers" and/or team drivers. They seem to just slip in. I was searching for myself and also a friend of mine. We're both out of upstate SC. Was looking for a good semi truck operation or perhaps a 6 or 10 wheeler.
Few semi operations were listed.
BigBus is still kickin.
Little John is 2 in mid-July, and he can say truck and bus... and he's learning his colors with... trucks.

I'm always kickin' somethin' somewhere, somehow.
I'm still driving, and still hauling whatever comes my way.
The Wife don't like it all the time, but funny thing is...
she's never angry when I put money in the bank.

Re: Panther II Drivers
I'm in search of a good owner to run for, that has a good ride and the right location and hometime plan that will work for me. Once again, I'm off the road doing local driving, with a little bit of long distance wkend stuff with busses and/or trucks - but I miss the road.
Our 2nd child is due in Jan., so I figure I'll do some homework now, so when the time comes I'll be ready by fall or spring to roll. I'm wanting semi work, but if the right deal comes along I'd consider a straight truck of some kind. May team with a friend of mine... that way we both can get ahead financially. He has a 379 Pete that he inherited a few years ago from his grandfather who passed on and runs it thru the family business when he's not driving dump trucks or hauling heavy equipment at his FT job. He wants to be an owner operator, but him being a new father like me, is unable to afford the insurance to put on the rig at this time.
I eventually plan to get my own rig and be an O/O. I've had multiple opportunities to be an O/O in the tour bus biz, but then I'd really have to take advantage of the free meals and I'd get real fat real quick.

Re: Panther II Drivers
They are so "friendly" that drivers prefer to stay jobless than drive for Panther.
My friend was looking for 2 drivers, 1 for Panther and 1 for other company. He posted the other company ad first. After he filled the seat, drivers kept calling him and he said the position was taken already but he has another unit with Panther. 3 drivers declined the offer.

You might consider tanker carriers if you want good regional work . Tanker carriers are staying busy . A Distech driver in MI told me his terminal was hiring 30 drivers . Schneider needs tanker drivers for an expanded contract with Growmark . Quality Carriers is hiring drivers and O/O's at several terminals . Some Quality Drivers are getting $.50 a mile for all miles on dedicated runs .

Although I do not work for Expeditor Services,I have not heard a bad thing about them from anyone I have met on the road that does work for them. And if I am not mistaken,I was told their trucks can haul close to 9,500#'s.And with freight paying so low now, who would want to haul heavy weight unless a person is in a bad area, or had a bad week?
