Caught in a war zone!
We're hanging out in our usual spot at the end of the Miami International Airport's runway with our fellow Aviation haulers. It sounds like a war zone out there! If I didn't know better I would think we are in the middle of a Miami gang war. There is constant gun fire all around us!
Air cannons actually. It seems the local birds are being quite insistant on rousting at the end of the runway today. NOT GOOD! As each jet is on final approach the stationary cannons automatically fire repeatedly in an attempt to scare the pesky birds away from the runway. If that does'nt work they have commandos in pickup trucks with air cannons mounted in the bed to engage them one on one! It seems today the birds are holding the line! No word of any casualties yet!
Did you know that when one gets sucked through an engine ( it aint a pretty sight) the jet is immediately grounded, the engine removed and sent to be cleaned, inspected, and repaired if need be.Last edited by Streakn1; 11-10-2008 at 07:30 PM.

Hunters could help there. Too bad we are so often ridiculed for helping to control things that need controled, like non-migratory geese or deer. Oh well, at least they eat good. Layoutshooter

Re: Caught in a war zone!
I have to wonder if that would be a bad idea. Liable to get some of those "big city" wannabe hunters out here. They're liable to start shoot'n at the really big game! You know the ones I'm talking about, can't tell a milk cow from a deer standing in the pasture! LOL
Update: All is quiet now. The birds fell back behind the "no fly/rousting zone" so the cannons are silent for the remainder of the night. Maybe now we can get some sleep before we pick up our load in the morning!Last edited by Streakn1; 11-10-2008 at 10:48 PM.
