Thumbs down Watch that cash advance!

Yesterday I stopped to fuel and get a $50.00 cash advance at the Flying J in Midway,FL. What should have been a quick fuel stop and a simple transaction quickly became a nightmare!

Once I shut the pump off the cashier (a new employee) attached my ticket along with my cash to the receipt hanger at the end of the counter away from the registers. Now none of the truckstops do that when a cash advance is involved. They typically keep the receipt behind the counter until you show up and sign it, only then do they pull the cash from the drawer. Well, not this careless idiot!

Once inside, instead of going directly to the fuel desk I ran back to the R/R, did some quick shopping for drinks etc in their store, and then went to the counter. When I identified myself fully expecting the cashier to pull my receipt off the printer or back counter. Noooo, instead she goes and pulls it off of the hanger and proceeds to inform me that my cash advance went missing!. Now several drivers had already been in and out to get their receipts and any one of them could have easily taken my cash without being noticed.

Next I was detained while they "had to figure out who took the cash", like whomever did that it is really going to admit they stole it. At first I was patient but after what should have been a twenty minute fuel stop turning into over an hour and still no resolution, oh I did get all but accussed of stealing my own money on three different occassions during this ordeal. After the third time of that I blew and let them and every customer in the place know what I thought of how I was being treated. After that I think they wanted nothing more than to get me out of there quickly with my $50.

Way to go Flying J Midway,FL! They had a chance to get a lot of my business but they BLEEEEEW IT!!! You don't treat you customers this way, nor do you handle their money as carelessly as that! Oh, I guess I expect to much out of some minimum wage employees, or do I?

TA is just a bit down the road and all of my business will go there!

I've never seen cash hanging with the fuel receipts. Makes me wonder if it was the cashier that took it?

Bingo!!! Bet they'd find out more if they checked the camera. Either the cashier is an idiot or a thief. Either way, she shouldn't be working around money.

Why didn't you call the local police and have them review the cameras? If she did put it up there then that's her fault and the $50 would be coming out of her pocket. I wouldn't have left.

And what if I am? Do you have a problem with that x06col? Kill the attitude bucko!!! You've slammed me in the past on this forum and I've let it slide. NOT this time, you can stick it in your.

YES I use the R/R after fueling! Maybe I prefer to save capacity in my holding tanks every chance I get to help save money on chemical and lessen the number of times I have to dump the wastewater tank. YES I grab some soda from the store cooler if we can't get to the Walmart to restock. Yes, I do ALL from of this from foward of the pumps in the fuel island liked everone else and I will continue to do so! Like everybody else, I have a right to do that before I get my fuel receipt as long as I pull forward of the pump so the next truck can begin fueling whether you like it or not! Again, you got a problem with that??? It will be a cold day in a warm place before you tell me I have to go park in the lot, unless I plan to stay. Guess what x06col, I've already got that part figured out.

I, unlike most others out here am done before the next truck is finished fueling because I am COURTEOUS to the driver behind me. Your comment was totally uncalled for. BACK OFF!!! You can take your negativity towards other Expediters (driver) elsewhere. We would normally welcome anyone whom wishes to visit us at a truckstop, etc. In your case, STAY AWAY! You will not be weclomed.

Who's to know maybe I've had to wait on you in the past because you were in my way!

Col... Are you saying that you don't wash your hands after fueling? Even if you wear gloves, they still smell like diesel fuel. I'm not getting back in my truck until I wash my hands.
Grabbing a drink doesn't mean "parking" in the fuel island. Good Grief!

Streakin...I'm assuming that the J did end up giving you your money? Did they happen to check cameras in the store?

Now that I've calmed down Pelican, yes they gave my wife the money. I don't know if they checked the cameras. We did not have time to wait as we had a jet needing the engine we were carrying installed asap. God forbid if I had done that. I would have sat in the fuel island even longer and x06col might have been parked behind me really having a ****y fit! LOL

I am not gonna park in the back just to get a drink and go to the R/R. I pull forward like a good boy and get my stuff as quickly as I can and get back on the highway. Are we not "Expeditors"? No time for long walks from the back. Streakin, stop at the line and do your thing, those who dont like it will get over it I am sure. I hope you got the cash finally.

I would send an E-Mail to FJ about this incident. Put in all the facts you can, Names, Time of day etc.

I have done this a couple of times with the J. They usually respond, depending on who is reading the mail at the moment. It wont hurt to tell them you are posting all over the Internet

it doesn't matter how quickly you r/r and shop......there are still 9 or 10 drivers ahead of you in line for the 2 clerks at the counter............and no reinforcements to be seen.

    Re: Watch that cash advance!

That's where my wife come in handy. If need be and a "Reasonable" amount of time has elapsed , say no more than 5-10 minutes and there is more than one truck stacked behind us, the truck can be moved if need be. Afterall, the truck directly behind me most likely is farther down the line at the fuel desk than I at that point. We have gone ahead and moved in the past when necessary. Many other drivers out here would never extend the same courteousy!

Flying J has cheap fuel, but the service inside sinks. They are so SLOW.
