Let alone an American government letting them get away with dumping cas here.Let alone the American government that doesn't slap teh same tarriffs on the cars like the Japanese government does ours. Let alone Ford not doing a darn thing with their untill the 2009 model and its just a sheet metal change,,,You know the frame and basic vehicle is from what 1993? GMs from 2000? Not certain there. I mean look at the Taurus what a great forward car..Toyota,Honda, Nissan, had nothing equal..Ford did a couple of body changes since 1986.. but pretty much did nothing to it.The Japanese were quitely engineering better and better..Who's at fault? Ford for just sinking money and engineering into trucks and suvs or people wanted a better car?
We have done it to ourselves
Separate topic, but I really don't see the Japanese products as being at fault. Probably more the fault of the American auto makers not listening to the what the public wants and/or manufacturing an inferior machine.

Ford Taurus. Need I say more?

Money is money. These days it's all international money. If the Jap auto makers are building plants here, then that's jobs for Amricans. Who cares who the owner is. Even IBM is now Chinese owned. Can you say Lenovo?

Re: toyota

I have hauled Toyota, Honda, and Hyundai. Not really sure where that last company is owned. I made a lot of money making Toyota and Honda parts for years.

I remember going to a UAW union office to deliver a book once, and the sign said no foreign vehicles allowed in the lot. Guess they didn't know my Ford Ranger was made in Canada.

Put new forks on my Harley once, and noticed they were made in Japan.

When I worked for a Toyota supplier, I used to joke... Good thing we won the war against Japan, or we would be working ungodly hours in some Japanese plant.

If you look at the "content" labels on these cars/trucks you'll see the North America content is virtually the same no matter what brand...it's just "where" they are assembled...if it weren't for Toyota, Nissan, Honda...this country would be alot worse off..
I thought thats what I said? lol

I thought thats what I said lol....Although I don't like the profit monies leaving out of country and driving up inflation.
And yes you take the Japanese parts off of a All American Harley Davidson or so they tell me it won't roll let alone start..Japanese quality is way better then China's..Buy a new chicken wing, I meant Gold Wing and more of that is made inn American then the Full Dress Harley. Long time ago I used to wrench on them

Re: toyota

I would rather take a "jap car" load over the "big three" anyday. I have seen 0.40 fsc on them when with the "big three" you are lucky to see 0.27 fsc. Also at the "jap" plants they unload you fast unlike the "Big three". We also pick up a lot of transfreight loads. Toyota once gave me a $10.50 fsc <<<< no I am not drunk granted it was only a 15 mile run but hey it still beats the heck out of .27 that the "Big three" would have paid. Total run was 100 miles with DH paid $437.25, So ill take them anyday over the "Big three"
