Re: Food Stamps
Sounds like..
Total $1400
Less $210 for the driver (20% of $1050)
Less $560 for fuel, tolls, R&M (40% of the $1400)
Equals $630 for the owner (45%)
And what happens if the fuel, tolls, and R&M aren't covered by the 40%? Whose percentage does that come from?
Man, sounds like this owner's got a good thing going (for himself) at 85% of the total (and that's IF it's coming out of his percentage if it's over 40% for the above).
Time to look for another ride?
Or wait.. is there a codriver who also gets 20%?

Re: Food Stamps
If this driver talkes to dispatch like he talks to some of the people here, "you need smacked in the head," it's no wonder they don't dispatch him. I was with FECC and Roberts for 6 years and they would never put up with stuff like that back then.

Re: Food Stamps
The bad news is that some at FedEx read this stuff - that's all I am going to say.
The good news is he is driving a tractor, not a c unit so he can get off his can, buy a cheap truck and get rolling with another company.

Dave my percent is 20% of the run pay less fuel and tolls.
the owner is paying fuel and tolls.
What I down load to the card is what I use to run the truck.
weather its fuel tolls tires ect. No the 40% isnt my pay.
My pay reguardless is 20% before the fuel and tolls are add to get to the total price.
I hope u understand now. thanks.
The owner he gets 20% his cuts off the top with the fuel and tolls as mine is 20% off the bottom = before fuel and tolls are add to the offer.

You say you were with roberts express for 6 years well then 500 and 300 a week pays days were common for you then?? For me they are not. They are inexcuseable.
If Im going to be on the road 24 7 1000.00 after taxes is my requirement.
Other wise its not worth it.
One last thing as far as dispatchers go I am Polite how ever I dont let them walk all over me either. If I can get more money for a run I ask especialy if its a toll road. If they cant then I ask for a back up if they say cant do that I ask what can you do to help me help you. If Im told nothing then I tell them sorry cant do the load. Also for your information I call them angels, and thank them when they call me for a load. when is the last time U thank a dispatcher for calling ya with a load?? Id do it all the time ya see all I want to do is work while Im out here.
The worst thing about me Is I WAS calling and asking for loads.
Well be advised Im NOT going to do that no more.
As Im sick of Begging I should not have to Its not right.
NO Locks for any reason unless they got a load to give me on the Truck means no Worries and Ill get my Loads.
Have a nice day.

If The 40% dont cover the fuel and tolls I cant do the run.
So then I have to say no. I Look at the whole picture when I get the load offer. Look at the Total miles DH and Pratical and then Guess ta mate what the tolls will be. Then I make sure I know the price of fuel and give .10 cents higher for purpose of a Safety money Net then Look at the total $$$$
of the load and take that X 40% and then at the same time check the locations on the maps all in a matter of min so I can say either yes or no.
one last thing Yes I have a Co driver and he get the same as me paid off the bottom. The run pay and DH pay Note as with me he dont get the fuel or the Tolls pay if any.
Its a no Brainer.
Now I do know this for a fact with the first Owner I worked for I got paid my Percentage off the Total Price of the load but he was the lead driver so it made a big difference. There are a few OOPs that are doing that paying there Co driver off the top.
Understand.
