Re: Food Stamps
truck grosses 200,000$ and goes 123000 miles in year. diesel is 4.60 so at 6mpg fuel would be $94000. 60% of 200,000 is $120000 for a team but feul is 94 so all you have left for two driver is $26000 or 13,000 each after fuel even less when toll needed. 13000 for 52 weeks is $250 a week.
$500 weeks not bad for each team driver with no truck payment

That would be assuming the truck is running all 52 weeks. I am paying my drivers too much
On a serious note, you can't run a tractor on $1.40 to 1.60 per mile as he (IRT) posted in another thread. We don't even run straights at that rate. I thought the Fed paid better than that. Maybe not, based on what is posted.
You may be better served to talk/PM to Steve aka Nightcreature as he claims $2.00 to $3.00 per mile.
Apparently he is running something you aren't with the same equipment.

Wrong answer this truck was making the money with a reefer. Shortly after getting the dry box when the reefer went down it all went down hill from there.
500 bucks a week on the road is crap.
if you think its sufficent Your crazy.
So Palllet Hows the cubical for 8hours ???

Dave let me explaine somthing there are good loads at all companies then there are not so good loads. The loads that night creature is on most likely is dedicatied runs. But then again everyone knows steve tell tall tales to make himself look good and I am not afarid to say that so steve wouldnt be a good one to talk to. Yes there are loads that are realy good paying but since I have been pulling a dry box my pay days have been crap simply put. It seems im getting the left overs. There are runs that are 2.00 buck a mile which I wil take but best not have alot of tolls. There are runs that pay 180 all miles that includes deadhead. well them runs if I got a lot of DH and big tolls then I got to let them go to the side
now if Steve isnt counting the DH but only the pratical miles then maybe I could see where he says 3 bucks a mile.
but in reality he would need to add in the DH. Now I did do a load from Jamica NY to Los Angels CA which paid a total of 13500 bucks to the Truck that was in sept of 2005 and that was a dry box load and the Trailer had a lift gate on it.
the only down side of it was We had to sit on it for 4 day after getting out there do to the bld didnt pass a fire Marshal inspection. So ID say that was way more than 3 bucks a mile wouldnt you. But them runs are few and far between. Never since then seen a run that big in the last 3 years.
again there are alot of blow hards on here and Steve is one of them big time and if you have not realized it by now he is one of the better ones as I see He has got even U believing him.
A TVal tractor poping can make up to 2400 or more for a driver a week if he gett the right runs. the norm is about 1200 to 1600 a dry box can make an average of 900 to a 1200 bucks per driver a week. THats poping
Thats if the company is giving up the runs fairly
and now thats for two drivers that dont own the truck
and are poping hard. and thats the Truth from my personal experiance with the FED

Re: Food Stamps
I.m not at the Fed so it wouldn't be fair for me to post what I think they make or don't. I am only going by what is posted here. Without a doubt some posts are clearly inflated.
As like anything, if it was proven and too good, everyone would be there.

You said it your self the grass always looks greener on the other side till your there. Dont matter what company it is.
So If you said Panther I said FedEX whos whos wrong. Each of us has our own thoughts.
Ive been with the Fed long enough But what I realy deserve is better Equipment as Im young enough to do the job.
That is the key isnt it better equipment to get the better runs to make the money to be able to do the 4 weeks out and 5 days in vice being out since May then goiing in in Sept as ya cant make the monie to go On Home time. As I cant afford to.
Now I just said somthing I didnt want to say but OH
I admit it Im Human and not a Machine. Im Home sick and this stinking dry box isnt getting me the runs I need so that I can go Home. Example I will close out this week on Wed with only 300 bucks why??? Because all the runs I was offered today would either drain all the money I had on the card left to pay the tolls and do the run and leave me with nothing to Fill the Tanks and DH out there and pay tolls on the way out. If I had my Reefer I wouldnt worrie but with a Dry Box got to think more.
Cant ask Cave Man for the monie I would be asked why did I take that load You got in You get it out.
One last thing when I got here in NY I had to replace 4 dead batteries and I was lucky I pulled in for a PM to the TA only to find when I went to start the Tractor to turn the wheel so they could lub the Steering shaft it wouldnt start and had to be jumped. How lucky was that. Im not kidding. Any way so 876.10 + .50 for the T check went on 4 batteries and a PM. But Im just glad it wasnt a road call at the shipper good grief that would have been costly as well as embarresing.
Who paid for the Repairs I did off the money I saved from fuel on the card like I Been doing. Keep your foot out the throttle and try to choose the loads wisely and I can save money on the card if I didnt wouldnt had the money to get it fixed. I dont think I need to elabortate any more than that on the subject I think you get the jist. (No I dont own Im just a driver)
So I am at a disadvantage sitting up here in Buffalo NY
100 in my pocket for tolls and 3/4 tanks for fuel. Got my fingers crossed and Hopen for an Angel to come my way.
I want my Reefer BACK and I need a Load Please FEDEX Load Angels help me. Now you know the deal.
Im not making no monie or the monie I should be making.
thanks for listening and the advice. Have a safe one

Re: Food Stamps
Just wondering.. is that normal for a driver (not an owner) to pay for R&M? Doesn't seem right somehow? Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by taking it from fuel saved off the fuel card?

Well Every since I worked for this guy I down load 40% to pay for fuel and tolls and do the Pms. I keep my foot outa the throttle and dont runt he truck to save i use the money to pay for pms Oil changes and that. and buy tires ect.
For the last 3 years I done this. well its tighter now as the prices of fuel is higher.
if your a driver and not an ower then how do you do it maybe ive been missing somthing. As Ive paid for fuel lines exhaust ect tires shocks reefer repairs, also replace ac compresor ect Air lines ect ect ect. brakes ect. If I didnt do it that way Id be sitting along side the road.
Am I missing somthing if i am then do tell I want to here it as maybe I been doing it all wrong.
Any Case I need to get to Ohio to get the Reefer Im still in Buffalo and the runs I was offered by the Computer wernt even a 1.45 am mile. Cant run a Tractor trailer for that. and pay tolls. What Im saying is this total price of the load x 40% = $$$
Total miles Divided by 6mpg = miles x 4.65 for fuel = if the price its going to cost me in fuel is more than I can down load how can i do the load ??? and if there is tolls hello its a no Brainer.
Can some body please wake the Fred the computer up and tell him the fairy tale is over with.
Thank You
Maybe I shoud Say NO CHEAPO FREIGHT

Re: Food Stamps
Hey Ice
May want to shop for a better deal. Never heard of a driver running for a owner that pays the repair costs on the truck.
Only other exception is if your on a lease purchase of some type?
The $1.45 per mile you speak of, is that with the FSC or without it?

Dave
Look I get 20% off the Bottom in other words before fuel and tolls Exsample
DH PAY 50.00 DHFS 100.00
RUN PAY 1000.00 RUNFS 250.00
TOLLS 0000 TOATAL AMOUT 1400.00
MY PERCENTAGE IS 20% OF THE 1050.00
I DONT GET FUEL OR TOLLS IN MY PERCENTAGE.
Now Dave the percentage I down load for the card is off of the 1400.00 so 40% of that.
When I say I get paid off the bottom I mean I only get run pay and DH pay but Not the fuel or the Tolls.
When I down load money to the truck I down load 40% of the toatal amount to cover the DH tolls and that and what left over stays on the card and I use it to get PM ect. Tire ect ect now do you understand.
Basicly I run the truck off of what I down load to the card.
Pay for Exhaust , Breaks, PMs , DOTs, Tires, Shocks, Trailer stuff, ect. Belts Hoses, I think u get the jist.
Now again if thats not right then say so.
tell me how u do it and NO Im not lease purchasing the thing
Id buy a Volvo 2008 or somthing of that nature. with a warrenty. any way this is how I have done it for the last 3 years.

Re: Food Stamps
To make sure I understand this correctly, what percentage of the gross does the owner take?
Does he pay any maintenance on the truck? Or,are you paying at times and you are reimbursed at a later date?

Re: Food Stamps
Let me think,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I think you are saying that you get 20% B/4 fuel and tolls, BUT you pay for fuel and tolls and maintance. Either I am missing something or your deal with the truck owner is something out of this world. It's no wonder you are broke.
