Re: Nations Express info please!
I worked for nations from Jan07 to oct07. I was getting 800 to 900 miles a week a 1100 week was great. The% pay was ok but you did sit a lot, ask them how many drivers they have if it is 200-250 then they are just keeping up with the turn over.

I believe they all do that... even though they say they don't. Take the time to sit at their homebase, or somewhere they tend to wait for freight, to see if you can speak directly to some drivers. Perhaps there will be some in attendance at the expo coming up?

Re: Nations Express info please!
They are hiring because older drivers are quiting, if company kept all its drivers and it was the total they wanted they would not need to hire.

Re: Nations Express info please!
Call me crazy if you want for asking this but here goes. If you already have a fleet of five vans and Nations Express says they can't use them why bother with them? Why not look into a carrier that can use the equipment you already have if you want to move your fleet?

Because I have a driver who has 2 DUIs. Currently he drives for Try Hours. TriState, Fedex, Express One, Panther II, Bolt can not qualify him because of the DUIs...I worked with this driver since May 2007 and I never had any problem. He's 65 years old I just don't want to let him go.... I know it is a stupid situation, I could hire a new driver and put the van to a decent company and make more money. But I think profit isn't always the most important thing....

Re: Nations Express info please!
If someone has one DUI you can say that they did something stupid and learned a lesson. But, two suggests that they aren't capable of learning a lesson. IMHO, your business comes first.

Re: Nations Express info please!
"if Nations Express cannot keep their own drivers happy why recruit?'it would seem to me the question answers it self.

Re: Nations Express info please!
Well hell! Here we go again with that age-old-question "why do carriers continue to recruit new drivers if their current drivers are not happy?" It's a very easy question to answer! How much money does it cost your carrier to over-hire vehicles of every size just so they can cover any potential loads that might pop-up on their load boards? How much money does it really cost your carrier to let a few trucks sit for a couple of days at a time waiting for that one "regular" customer to call in with an emergency situation? It really doesn't cost them very much at all beyond the "primary freight insurance" that they have to put up for that particular unit. So, turnover is just a normal part of what this business has become. The customer's needs have been placed above the needs of the independent contractor. It really doesn't matter how long you sit, as long as when that one 'special" customer calls your company with a dyer emergency, you are in the area and available to run that load. It's common sense actually from a businessmans prospective, or better yet "from a management standpoint!" Drivers are 100% interchangeable, and I don't think that is going to change anytime in the near future. Oh, yeah, look out for the next influx of expediters and (new sprinters, cargo vans, and straight trucks) to hit the market just as soon as these clowns at GM get their 100,000 dollar buyouts!!! It's going to be awesome!

Re: Nations Express info please!
Also, referring to the gentleman who has two dui's. I don't know about the rest of you guys but some people need to be slapped in the face with reality a couple times before they realize the error of their ways! It appears as if this gentleman has learned his lesson. He's just a graduate of the school of hard knox! Now I know we all have been to the school of hard knox a time or two, and some of us may have to go back there again to repeat a few classes that we missed the first time around!

And what risk? If it was that easy everyone would know. Even the forex trading on currency appears the fastest growth yet has the fastest drops too.
sounds like Multi Leveling Marketing to me and should it be advertised here?
