Re: Unfrickinbelivable
I wouldn't fault you for those runs.....BUT for the other "Independent Business Owners" What kind of owner are you IF you don't service a customer in a timely manner? For dispatch to have to go thru 10 drivers and haggle over a penny is stupid.....if your in service, your in service to serve in a timely manner...
I know if I were a dispatcher I'd go to, the go to guy to cover the load. No matter pass over 6 people to do it! I'd not waste my time. It's no wonder they need 20 dispatchers.....just to deal with "cherry pickers"

Why would you complain about cherry pickers?? You get offered the load. If the moneys there take the load, Its your decision to take the load or not. If you decide to take it on the chin do it.......... Ive just learned to DUCK..................

"I had to pay Florida tolls in excess of $25." "Had to"???????
Maybe you should take a couple steps back and tink about that.
Mabee even check a road atlas out an see if there are any roads going that way that aren't green colored. Could have helped your delima.
And, YES, Panter is your customer! Unfortuneately your ONLY customer soooo.... suck it up an take care of em, prolly the best ting I can think of.

Well not really, we can do broker loads if we choose to. Sadly most drivers would rather sit and wait.

IMO if you dont haggle on a bad load you waste your time and money. Do the math, if you waste a day of your time and run for 1/2 rate because of dead head back to the service area. How much did you really make?? Or wait on the next load even with 1/2 the miles staying in the service area, you will have more money in your pocket and another day of your time to get that next load.
A smart dispatcher would give the crappy loads to the guy that takes everything, and the long loads to the cherry picker, so as to be able to get every thing covered........Just something to think about............................

Re: Unfrickinbelivable
This is where it gets confusing....In a CV theres not much to haggle about cept location and DH. We pretty much sold our souls for flat rate mileage rate.
You C's and D's pretty much always have to haggle....

Re: Unfrickinbelivable
Hey, col...I'd say that I suck it up b/c right now as it stands my acceptance rating is 94% and my availability is 100%...for the year. Those are pretty **** good numbers in my book. And I'd much rather have a load than sit and wait but 2 loads back to back from Ocoee, Fl to Miami are definitely losers. And I had taken 1 of them. If dispatch had thrown a 20$ bonus for tolls and a first out, I would have taken the load but the response I got was " We have other trucks we could offer it to". Ok, so if you've got other trucks to offer it to, then don't call me wanting me to dh 60+ miles to get the load, then I have to dh back to the same area 235 miles when I get done with the load. when you've got other trucks sitting closer to p/u.

Yeah, I did...I hit the wrong quote button so I edited it. You just got to the post when I was editing it so it still wasn't changed, but yes. I take almost every load that I am sent.

Is it considered cherrypicking to turn down a load which you know will cost you more than you will get paid?

Re: Unfrickinbelivable
I'd say we'all don't matter, an I don't care. If you like what you see in the mirror, you should be happy as a plum.
BTW did you catch the part about the green roads?
Jim, yes those type things are available, but, after waiting a day or so (phew) there isn't much energy left to mess with that kinda stuff. Ya know?

Re: Unfrickinbelivable
I'd be a lot happier, If I could find this year I was dh less than last. That would be cool. So far, I'm happy with everything, but again, I am a newbie and the first year as an o/o I had a ton of dh miles.
