Re: Working to hard
yep asked for it, let me restate this.. was in loraine oh pickup is 65 miles away, maybe they were doing me a favor with the load, sorry i dont see it...i guess i will drive a load 600 miles and drop it before i get to canada..(request a swap) been with panther 2.5 years now so i kinda got an idea about the way they run.... would i sit on a load for 2 days with no incentive??? nope go hire a storage building, its obvious why the guy swapped . i guess if thats the loads you will take, then power to ya....as for me, i can wait.. i realise all loads gotta be covered.. but i wont even think about feeling guilty about that one....if ya wanna run detroit to windsor everyday i guess thats up to you...50.00 plus border crossing doesnt cut it for 4 hours of work...now if its a pickup from a shipper i woulda taken it, the principle stated was people taking the meat and leaving the crumbs...i dont live on crumbs, its all the way or no way.....but its not really a problem because there is 700 other vans out there...which by turning down i contributed to there success...

Re: Working to hard
oh i forgot yepp my deadhead is probably at 40% which is way higher then average...in the year 2007 i deadheaded
from portland oregon to ionia mich, approx 2200 miles had military duty
san francisco cal -ionia mich approx 2500 miles had military duty
san antonoi tx - ionia mi miles unknown had military duty
shreveport lousianna-ionia mi had military duty
2 times from knoxville tn to ionia mich had military duty
every month sometimes twice a month i dead head to ionia mi for military duty
is it expensive??? yes very
is it worth it?? yes very much so, its my obligation to our country..
do i like doing it??? no
have i ever had a 100% inservice nope they count military duty as o/s
we currently do 2 military drills of 15 days each.. when i come back from drill my inservice is around 50% it takes forever to get it back up to 90% then along comes another drill and it shoots back down to 80% i am off vacation or 0/s 65 days a year, its all military duty...so nope i dont have the best ratings, however over the 2 years 8 months exp expediting i have managed just over a 90% acceptance...its the price we pay

Re: Working to hard
hondaking,
Thanks for posting the info for your specific situation - and thanks for your service.
Personally I'd say you have "a tough row to hoe" so to speak.

No complaining here, 3loads 766 miles, talked to a dispatcher on Saturday said something's not right, need to call on Monday and try and find out whats going on.
The new system got some off them messed up.
Thinking about going in a ST just don't like that teaming thing.
Was with Fedex for 6 months WG TVAL just to many conflicks with codriver.
You know the pis**ed off thread.
Even Fedex got them kind of drivers

Re: Working to hard
[Honda I congrats and my thanks on your service. But what in the world are you doing this for a living with such a committment that you put yourself into?
You sir are really in the wrong occupation, as in any occupation your suppost to make a living not spend it, and your spending it on fuel going back to your committment. Makes no sense to me would have been the last job I would have taken with what you have done in the ways of committments.
I wish you well. And very Serious THANK YOU I always appriciate someone serving.

Re: Working to hard
Is it? I mean, you're probably right, but I can think of a dozen other reasons why the load might have swapped.
If you would have taken it from a shipper and gone 300 miles, then there's no reason not to take it on a swap for 300 miles. None. 300 miles is 300 miles. There is no principle involved here, unless you're letting another driver's decisions yank your tail, and by extension, jerk your business. By not taking the load you didn't somehow "I'll show him" and get back at him, or at Panther. Your revenue will be impacted precisely the same regardless of where the load originated.now if its a pickup from a shipper i woulda taken it, the principle stated was people taking the meat and leaving the crumbs...i dont live on crumbs,...
My bank account has a tough time differentiating between $267.89 and "crumbs", between dollars and emotions.
I understand the deadhead to get back for military duty, and places like Knoxville, San Antonio and Shreveport, while not something you'd want to do, it's at lease doable. But honestly, if I knew I had to report to Ionia on a certain date, if there was any chance that I'd have to deadhead back, I'm not sure I'd have accepted loads to Portland and San Francisco a week or two prior to those dates.

Wag your own tail.

Re: Working to hard
Hondaking, congratulations on your service to our Country. Could you not explain or ask of Panther to try and find you some type of back haul when you have to do your service commitment.

Re: Working to hard
If you don't want your business decisions commented on, then don't post them in public.
Telling me to get a life because I may make a different business decision that you, well, that's just mean.
All I did was post how I see things, offered up suggestions that others can use when faced with similar situations that you can posted about, so they can see how you handle them and how someone else might handle them. I wasn't being mean, and I certainly wasn't telling you to get a life because your decisions differed from mine. I'm sorry if you took it that way.

Re: Working to hard
hondaking,
all I know is your carrier can't penalize you for your military commitments. I'm sure you know that. It's part of the Solider's and Sailor's relif act. I guess Airmen and Marines are just screwed. Just kidding, every branch is covered. If you would like to learn how to help Cancer Victims please PM me. This is completely legitimate. I'm just not going to cause a public scene like others have in the past. Send me a PM and I'll get you the reading materail.

Re: Working to hard
Ok guys lets not get personal here, I started this tread so I am asking that it be locked.
Times are bad for all of us right now, and we need each others support not bickering.
