RE: BEEP!!! IN THE NIGHT....
Night...That wasn't the point ...he was dispatched, was in the same location for at least 24 hours it was 1.30 am when they called to confirm location for a NOON pick-up. That is just a dumb move...
A click of the QC would have confirmed his location just as well....unless he's parked under a tree!

bamamule great attitude, there are many reasons if there were 5 other vans in parking lot, they would have picked you.For that reason you shouldnt complain about sitting around, forgot this was hypothetical

Was at home all day friday decided to get some sleep at 9 pm well got aa call at 10:00 pm to pick up 43 miles from home at 11:00 pm. Told the dispachter that might be tight , might be little late, she called back got it confirm for 12:00 and had to be 330 miles to MI by 9 am. RE: BEEP!!! IN THE NIGHT....
My all time favorite "beep in the night": I was sitting up reading pretty late one night, when the QC beeped. Not with a load offer, but a suggested relocation, which I accepted. Only then did I notice what time it was: 0400! I called dispatch & said "Tell me that you knew I was awake at this hour" and she replied "I didn't, and I've been getting a lot of flak for waking drivers up, but tomorrow's Friday, and I'd like to get people moved now."
There really needs to be a better system than that....

RE: BEEP!!! IN THE NIGHT....
My load canceled. I got to the shipper just before noon and was told it was going via air. Maybe my late night call was to tell me that and the dispatcher got confused. Oh well!

RE: BEEP!!! IN THE NIGHT....
That seems like the cat's favorite time to call. I could be someone where in a public place, or a club. Sometimes, even sleep in the truck and they will call. It seems like they always call my wife and I say to save the day. Not complaining at all, though.

RE: BEEP!!! IN THE NIGHT....
I've had some late night "non-rescues" also. When I was with Panther, one night we had rolled into Chicago for a 10PM delivery. After dropping, we were looking for a place to grab a quick bite to eat before sleeping. Around 0015, as we're fading to sleep in some parking lot, the QC goes off with a load offer to pick-up at 1:30AM at some chemical plant, (On the "wrong side of the tracks", but fairly close...lol) We made the pick-up and it was a 1000hrs delivery in Seymour, IN. I never mind being awoken for a load, especially since was a "bonus run" for a little extra money, and the 10AM delivery got us early enough to get back on the board the following day. (And we got to sleep in a nicer spot) That's expediting, and I only complain when I'm not getting load offers!) I also agree with A-Team about the Karma of helping out a fellow driver). :)

That is an understandable situation, but the problem we encounter more often than not is that the "rescue" is just a swap that they cannot get covered, or lack of planning on their partl, I cant count the number of times I have explained to dispatch that my H.O.S will not allow me to run the run but they insist on picking it up, they will have some other driver "rescue" it.
I will do everything I can do to help in a real situation, but not these self made "rescue" operations, thats is when it is time to talk money..
