Panther II ..Single or Team?
I am a small fleet owner considering the Cats to lease on my trucks . I run all Tractors and I currently have single drivers in all my trucks. But 1500-2000 miles a week is somewhat scary considering my drivers may get upset with such low miles then they are use to. Can any single drivers chime in and say how they are doing running solo. If I drove myself I could see it not being a bad thing running as a single, but paying drivers to run is it worth it, or should I think about going all teams?
Thanks in advance

Vinnie, 1500 to 2000 miles is what they can expect. If you pay them by the mile they may be upset. If you pay them a percentage they may be less upset. Most owners in expedite pay percentage I think.

RE: Panther II ..Single or Team?
Vinnie, Kinda begs a question of .... how much do they need? Or, think they need. 1500X.50=750X50wk=37500
2000X.50=1000X50wk=50000
Either seems OK for the effort to me.
However, 2500X.50=1250X50wk=62500 Is mo betta But, most can't/won't don't do the 2500 OR the 50 weeks. Sooooo I guess it's that Russian word again.
Teams???? Tuff for three familys to live off one truck!

You are figuring per mile
Does anyone know what Panther fleet owners pay on average as a percentage?
Three families off one truck?
You can look at it that way, but I would lease at least 2-3 trucks on, there should be enough money to go around to make everyone happy

Leo,
We have been running around 2800-3000 miles a week with singles...
Some companies still don't monitor the logs, but we have been running mostly legal. It can still be done if the loads are booked just right.

I think i may already asked this, but does anyone know an average % paid to drivers by Panther fleet owners with Tractors?

RE: Panther II ..Single or Team?
40/60 SPLIT AND WE PAY THE FUEL....our tractor people make .62 a loaded mile and 20% of any paid deadhead, plus accessorials. Can you make money solo?...if you know the system and are smart. The issue with solo is you have A LOT of downtime and if your drivers spend down time eating in truckstops and playing coin games then they will feel like they are not making money. Expedited is a team model, more so since the Feds changed the HoS. 2000 miles a week at .62 a mile = $1240 a week........BUT 2k miles a week every week means your drivers KNOW the system and how to do it. it is very easy to waste al your time at shippers and DH in this business.

Thanks Charlotte for the info
Do you pay 40% after you pay the fuel or before?
You are also paying 20% of all the d/h and accessorials?
Do you also pay the driver .62 a mile on backhauls that are not the normal rate?
:-) Thanks

RE: Panther II ..Single or Team?
We pay 40% of all loaded miles.....the fuel comes out of our percentage. Backhauls we pay for fuel first then split the remainder. We pay 40% of all accessorial and 20% of all DH.

RE: Panther II ..Single or Team?
What is the age requirement for Panther's tractors? It was 2002 or newer a year ago if I'm not mistaken. Has that changed or is it still '02?
