I have a cargo van on with P2. I have a single driver. I ride in a FL and run an auto and semi repair service. Everyone here has been kind and informative. Babs3361, is an empty move the same as a "dead head"? Thanks, I hope I don't pester everyone too much learning what I can. Expediting is a bit different than moving heavy equip. So far It's been great!:)

An empty move is dead head but often with compensation because the carrier needs the truck at a different location. Deadhead is most often on the owner but some carriers pay token money for deadhead they ask for that exceeds a given mileage, such as >50 or >100.

We all like the questions from those sincere about leaning anything that we know; you're no exception. You might even want to give a shameless plug for your repair service. Our class 8 driving members are always looking for a good shop.

Yep! nothing on your truck and headed somewhere to pick up a load has always been considered deadhead and by the same token, the only dumb question is the one that you fail to ask!

With Panther, the empty move is paid from your current location to another better location of freight.
Their deadhead is the distance (minus the first 100) to a location to pick up a load.
In some cases, the first 100 are waived.
Empty moves are set at the National Fuel Index and DH is your contracted set rate.
