Do we pay road use taxes/IFTA in Canada ?
Are we charged for using roads in Canada also ? They should post a sign/disclaimer at border crossings stating: Although you are being treated like a criminal here by our customs agents,we would like to say we do not condone the rude behavior. But, afterall, you are in international territory and anything goes here ! Please continue to pay your tolls and fees and taxes and permits and licenses. Thank you and have a terrible trip !

Yes update your cab card for all Providences you are going to drive in "I don't know how much it is for each one". Also need to have IRP which I am sure you do. As far as trip permits you will need every Providence does it differently. but do check SK,BC, Yukon I know there are permits needed for all size units operating up there

I don't know about being treated as a criminal, every time except one I was treated better than my own countrymen treated me coming home.
Yes we do pay for road usage, hence the word International in the IFTA.Greg

Re: Do we pay road use taxes/IFTA in Canada ?
The charge is normally $10.75 for each trip into Canada IF you don't have a transponder, which costs around $200. per year. Sometimes the agents don't ask you for it when I give them my Fast card for i.d. Whether it is because some of them forget to collect, don't know to collect,or some assume since I have Fast card that I have transponder and don't bother to ask for fee, I don't know. If you don't go into Canada a whole lot and have Fast card it might be cheaper to not get transponder. Yes they can be rude usually once in awhile. Let's see: Didn't park close enough to the booth, didn't show enough eye contact. gave agent b.o.l. and when going intransit through Canada was told don't ever give them something paperwork that the driver needs back. All the above examples were told to me in a very condescending manner. Ever so often you will meet an agent who is having a bad day and will look for a reason to take it out on someone.
