Thumbs up Re: Work in Canada, live in US?

I have dual citizenship, live in the US, work for a Canadian company and drive a Canadian plated truck. At first customs didn't like this much - but eventually got used to the idea once they saw my ID.
:7

This is totaly right we are in the same shows thay don't like so much in the custom but tahy can't do any thing it is dual citizenship, and you are ok for the both country only the taxe issue it is differant ................

Re: Work in Canada, live in US?

The only thing you said that I didn't say is the part about living in the U.S and working in Canada......There's alot of gray in the immigration laws.....The rest I know that applies to my case....Did you know that my wife will never lose her Canadian residence card now because she married a Canadian even though she lives back in the U.S???? Nice factoid eh???

Cool Re: Work in Canada, live in US?

The canadian residens card it is valid only for a 5 yars and if you don't live for 2,5 years in aCanada you can lost the pernamet, but all ways have a smalll doors and you take advange from this and is nothing wrong from this ........You are wife because travel by land no body from the coustom know how long she was aout of the Canada and she will said she was all yeras in Canada . I know so many cubavs peiople living in Miami , FL never have a livied in Canada only habe a adres and applying for a Canadian citizenship nevar nevar lived in Canada. This is the only way your wife don't lossing her PR not because she is married with a Canadian citizen ...........Now with a NAFTA so many people have a chance to move from both side of the border .

Deva I know what you said and I tell you ABOUT MY BIG EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE .

The number one retirement spot for Canadians

is Florida.

Number two is Arizona.
There's a reason for that.

This is the only way your wife don't lossing her PR not because she is married with a Canadian citizen ..

NO....we were told by Canada Immigration. As long as she stays married to me she will never lose it her PR that is......You'd be correct if she left on her own...she can only be gone 2.5-3 years and then it's lost Sooo we are both kinda right.

Every second Canadian??? I don't know for that...My whole family is Anti-American....would explain a few things to some on this forum.

BTW...my wifes card says PERMANENT Resident....NO Expire Date!

Cool Re: Work in Canada, live in US?

OVM I am know iven if she divorce you she will be PR but if she don't living in Canada she will lost the PR...........Maybe you want to scare her not to divorce you..... she have her rights to divorce and stay PR of Canada but after 3 years she can applay for a canadina citicenship if she wants. Every one PR card it is only for 5 years I don't know how for your wife it is acceptian .............In usa it is 10 yeras regular GC and tempeorery it is only for 2 years . And I am said verey second canadian wants to live in USA like you to ........... it is nothing wrong every one have preferance .I like the both country and I am proud citizen of both ..........I things you have to go and read the canadaian immigration law and find out about your wife because if she don't reapplay for a new PR card she will lost everytning and need to spend a lot of money . And all unnesesery work .

Re: Work in Canada, live in US?

Sorry Your wrong again...the US permanent resident card you don't have to re-apply ONLY the card needs to be renewed at 10 years.

Sorry again....I will repeat this one more time.....Her Canadian resident card does NOT expire in 5 years.... I was told this by a Canadian Immigration officer.
For your information she has had the same card for 8 years now.I guess it's true because like I said her card is 8 years old now.

Maybe because of your original country of birth, the rules might be different? i don't know. The immigration laws are weird. Eh??

Exclamation Re: Work in Canada, live in US?

OVM yes that is right I don't want to said to re-aplay for a US GC but renewed but most of the people after living in USA 4 years and 9 months have right to applay for a citizenship and thay do this for a securyti resaon.
Yes , it supprised me sabout the your wife ,she is american or ????????? I am applay by the Canadian Consulat in USA as My american passport, but THE iMMIGRATION in Canada CHANGE THE pr CARD i THINHS ABOUT 3 OR 4 YEARS AGO AND PROBABLY YOUR WIFE HAVE FROM THE OLD ONE, i NEVAR HURT THIS . The medical secrtery of are family dokror it is from KY married in Ontario for a 12 years and have PR card for a 5 years. I tell her that she have a right to applay for a Canadian cizienship and she do this and now she is very happy , other way she have to pay $75 and renewd every 5 years, now she have a citizenship from Canad . ovm,are your wife travel in last years in aCanada or not ? The law it is the same for all nationality and it is very intersting situation with your wife .......
