"SEIU & Castor (whose contributors are predominantly unions trial lawyers, teamsters etc] organize (pay to play) a townhall and announce it at the last minute as to reduce opposition voices.
|
Never the less, the word gets out at the last minute to citizen-led, unfunded grassroots organizations like 9-12 meetup group. Citizens opposed to government-run healthcare gather at the last minute to have their voices heard.
Exactly what Castor and SEIU did not want.
Inside, the townhall seated are mostly union members/supporters/people - yet seats remain empty. Hundreds of citizens outside. And yet public is not allowed in.
Castor makes speech turns it over to panel. Soon leaves.
People were prevented access inside to the meeting. Because of this apparent denial of free speech and bias -- and the seemingly blatant sham of a 'townhall' -- many began to shout, some banged windows & doors."

"I was there. It was not a "town hall meeting". It was a private event by SEIU to push the agenda and giving it great media coverage under the guise of a public meeting. When the doors to the auditorium finally opened there were about 150 people already filling the 235 seats. If it truly were a public meeting it would have been held in a larger venue. The 85 or so seats open for the public were tokens for show. The rest were filled with SEIU, ACORN, union, and Democratic Party faithful.
I was 6 people behind the cut off and never made it in. It was truly disheartning and even embarassing to have all the shouting and disruption. I would have liked to have heard what was said. I could see it was getting ugly and started moving away from the open doors just before they were closed."

"I was there... We showed up at 6 and were told by friends that Representative Castor hosted a private event before the scheduled town hall with 175 SEIU union members who were assigned seats in the front of the hall for the meeting which left space for only @ 75 more people....and individuals wearing Obama gear were ushered to the front of the line and then the doors were shut. Free speech and Democracy were reprehensibly railroaded tonight..."
