GM to cut back on motorsports spending

I was expecting this . Caution flag flies on GM's motorsports budget - USATODAY.com .
In the days of REAL stock car racing "Win on Sunday , sell on Monday" meant something . In the 60's or 70's you could walk into a showroom and drive out with a fastback powered by a 426 or 427 and identify with NASCAR . Then NASCAR got away from true stock cars . Imagine going to a dealership and asking for a Taurus or Intrepid with a V8 . O.K. so now Dodge has the Charger . Toyota also has the Tundra with the engine that outperforms the big 3 in all comparison tests . Consumers aren't interested . Tundra sales have dropped so much Toyota will stop production of Tundras at the Princeton , IN plant and shift all production to Texas . Consumers are no longer influenced by speed and performance . They want economy and auto manfacturers no longer get the return on their investment in NASCAR . Other sponsors will step in and NASCAR will continue to grow . They really need to change the name though . Stock cars ceased to exist in that organization long ago .
