Re: MPG w/Chevy duramax
I had a 2006 2500 ext.Chevy Duramax. I put 90,000 miles on 1st. yr. with express 1, driving all conditions and alot of mountains with loads avg. size of800 to 1500 lbs. I avg. 18mpg. but got as high as 22mpg on open roads driving 65mph. It had plenty of power in hills. We would do alot of idling for a.c. and heat whenwe did it avg. like14mpg. Replaced fuel filter at 50,000 miles, hard to find in stock at dealers and cost 250.00 to install. Only had trouble once on way to Larado,TX it was blowing more deisel out exhaust than normal, dealer said the turbo needed to be relearned and ran fine after that. Tires wore well and had another 30,000 left when we sold at 90,000 miles. I am 6'4"" so was short on leg room compared to our previous E250 ford and rode alittle rougher but liked the long wheelbase better. Front seats were uncomfortable. We had 2 Sprinters before and liked the Chevy 100 times better but missed the head room. Hope this is somewhat helpful.
